Partnering with Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceutical Companies
Committed to Partnering

As one of the world’s preeminent sources of biopharmaceutical medicines, the Johnson & Johnson pharmaceutical companies search for promising new compounds as well as new ways to harness biotech knowledge. Our goal is to use cutting-edge knowledge in biotechnology to discover and develop innovative large and small molecule medicines. And partnering is a key part of this research and business strategy. Our pharmaceuticals group is committed to collaborating with others, developing long-term partnerships that leverage each company’s strengths and bringing significant advances to patients and physicians worldwide.

Our capabilities include state-of-the-art discovery and global development programs, world-class manufacturing of biologics and small molecule medicines, and strong commercialization entities that market in more than 175 countries. Johnson & Johnson is the most broadly based health-care-products company in the world. Yet our decentralized organization assures that we remain focused on the markets in every therapeutic and geographic area we serve.

Each year, Johnson & Johnson companies enter into more than 150 transactions with outside organizations. Our pharmaceuticals group alone licenses in more than 50 products and platform technologies a year, on average.

These collaborations, which include research agreements, product licenses, joint ventures, co-marketing arrangements and venture investments, typically are created and implemented by business development professionals in our pharmaceuticals licensing and acquisitions group or in the business units of the operating companies. In addition, the Johnson & Johnson Development Corporation makes equity investments in companies, and the Corporate Office of Science & Technology works with academic institutions and some early technology partners.

This website provides a brief introduction to each of our major research and commercial business units. It also provides information on our pharmaceuticals licensing and acquisitions group structure, which is organized so that potential partners have multiple ways to enter into business development discussions with representatives from the Johnson & Johnson pharmaceutical companies.
