Janssen Pharmaceutica Products, L.P. is the U.S. affiliate of Janssen-Cilag and one of the primary pharmaceutical companies in the United States. The company is widely known for products that treat mental illness, such as schizophrenia and bipolar mania, Alzheimer's disease, gastrointestinal disorders, chronic pain and fungal infections.
Like other Johnson & Johnson pharmaceutical companies, Janssen also is an accomplished alliance partner, and several of the company's products are the result of successful partnerships.
These include ACIPHEX ® (rabeprazole sodium) for treating gastrointestinal disorders in a co-promotion with Eisai, and RISPERDAL ® CONSTA™ [(risperidone) long acting injection] for schizophrenia, using Alkermes drug delivery technology. Its predecessor product, RISPERDAL ® (risperidone), is the most widely prescribed atypical psychotic in the world. Through a co-development and licensing agreement with Shire Pharmaceuticals, Janssen also markets REMINYL ® (galantamine hydrobromide) for mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease. In addition, the company markets DURAGESIC ® (fentanyl transdermal system), an ALZA product, for the treatment of chronic, moderate to severe pain.
Janssen maintains its longstanding reputation as a leader in the field of elder care, and Janssen's sales force recently was ranked first in elder care by the Health Industries Research Center and Scott Levin.
