Ortho Biotech Products, L.P. was established in 1990 as the first biotechnology subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson. The company is an established market leader in epoetin therapy across four therapeutic areas: oncology, HIV/immunology, nephrology and elective, noncardiac nonvascular surgery through its flagship product, PROCRIT ® (Epoetin alfa).
Ortho Biotech recently introduced ORTHOVISC ® (High Molecular Weight Hyaluronan). Licensed from Anika Therapeutics, ORTHOVICS is a new treatment option indicated for the treatment of pain in osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee. The company also markets LEUSTATIN ® (cladribine) a treatment for a rare form of cancer called hairy cell leukemia, and ORTHOCLONE OKT ® 3 (muromonab-CD3), the world's first approved therapeutic monoclonal antibody, used to treat rejection of transplanted organs, including the heart, kidneys and liver.
Ortho Biotech maintains a strong interest in new compounds and products in its traditional markets of oncology, nephrology and surgery, as well as new areas of interest, including diseases of the lungs, liver, brain and gastrointestinal tract.
Ortho Biotech continues to work closely with its research affiliates, including J&JPRD and Centocor's research & development organization, on these projects.
